The No. 1 Museum at Kew Gardens has been restored and converted to form new display areas housing part of the gardens’ economic botany collection. Exhibits are displayed in original cabinets that were refurbished to modern museum standards. The building also incorporates teaching and office space. A new staircase and lift were inserted along with a new building services installation. The project received a civic trust commendation.

The Victoria Gate entrance to Kew Gardens provides visitor orientation and interpretation areas, a shop, café and service areas. The project was conceived as a response to congestion which occurred during peak visitor periods by creating an assembly area with a welcoming view into the Gardens. The entrance to the building leads into a concourse which opens directly onto the functional areas of the building and then onto the entrance to the Garden itself and expansive views of the Palm House, lake and Broad Walk.

With Alan Irvine we completed the conversion of a former commercial showroom space in Berkeley Street, London to house the Fleming Wyfold Collection of Scottish Paintings. The building has been opened up to provide two levels of Gallery space linked by a glass staircase.
